Harold
Over a three week period room 21 attended 5 different sessions in the Harold bus. In each session we learnt something new about either food or the human body. All children had fun listening to Harold and watching him express his funny humour.

Testing on animals?

I don’t think animals should be tested on because, THEY’RE LIVING THINGS TOO! How would you feel if you were stuck in a metal cage? Waiting till your time of going off to a cold table and being forced to take a drug. Having pain so badly and then getting shut back in a cage! Not so much, hey!

On average 300,000 animals per year are used to experiment and test from cats, dogs, rabbits, deer, deer, mice, rats, fish, birds, pigs, cows, monkeys and guinea pigs. Nearly all of those are types of pets. Lets say you have one of the above. They get shoved in a cage and get new drugs tested on them and you’re not sure if they’ll come home or not.  In 2009 297,111 animals were tested on and 55% were killed or died because of the testing!

'The question is not, can they reason, nor can they talk, but can suffer?' as stated by an animal scientist, Jeremy Bentham. Right now millions of animals are locked inside cold metal cages. They shake in pain and ache with loneliness, longing to roam free. When all they can do is cower in the corner waiting for the next painful drug to be tested on them. That’s what’s happening at this very moment. More than half of the animals that get tested on die. Then all they do is say “whoops” then grab another animal from a cage and do the same painful procedure, until one lucky animal gets the right batch and survives.

Animal testing should not be allowed because animals die and suffer from incredible pain for some stupid drugs. Animals should treated as an equal.

The chilli plant

The Chilli Plant

The plant sat looking innocent until a victim comes along.  A pattern of red and green sprinkled like fairy dust. I smile thinking of the taste flaming in my mouth. The droopy leaves nestling in the pot. Little white flowers are slowing blooming, just one, waiting to mature to a chilli. Soft green leaves getting closer and closer to their time of disappearance. The plant in the pot lingering in the corner.

  The intimidating fiery plant is always 

  staring,sitting,staring at the next 

  person to march through the door,deciding     who to take  as its victim is a very 

       complicated job.

  The flamable chilli's are always growing

  bigger waiting,trying,waiting to pounce.

  The manipulative chilli's work hard to 

  look innocent, only two people have fallen
  for their evil tricks bursting,working,
  exploading in their mouths.

  The red and green christmas lights that
  we call chilli's are always sprouting 
  new flowers sprouting,improving,sprouting.


       The soon to be dead chilli plant is wilting
       with no water dying,wilting,dying.


   

      The now dead chilli plant is floppy and 
  lifeless wilted,lifeless,DEAD. 
  
   

CHILLY

As the suns stare at there victims, cries come from all who dare eat the red flames. The plant on fire with its green innocent leaves crawling down to fall off to survive. Half a meter tall and hinting of  death. The leaves smell of cucumber, the firey plums smell of fire mixed with lava. If you eat one you're in one heck of a ride!

Problem of the Week

The Snails Pace.

Gary the snail began to climb straight up a wall. The wall was made of bricks and was exactly 24 bricks high. Gary climbed up three bricks each day. At night poor old Gary would slide back two bricks.

How many days did it take Gary to reach the top of the wall?

Over the last three weeks room 21 has been making animations based on Maori legends. We based the animation on Maui and the Sun.
 We were split into about ten groups with three or four students in each group. Four girls painted the background and all the rest was made from clay. So far only two have been finished and the first one was made by Hugo, Caycee and Benji. Room 21 will continue making more animations across the year.

Welcome

Welcome to room 21's blog. Room 21 has loved the first couple of weeks with their new teacher David who
has helped us learn new strategies in all subjects including PE and art. Room 21 has had lots of fun and is hoping to have even more through out the rest of 2014 in their new classroom.
